Snow is falling and I am hoping classes will still be held on Monday. However, I am having fun. I actually had time to sew today! I am working on a shirt that I am not sure of the colors as I deviated from my favorite color and style.
So much sewing was done this past week in the classes. I am trying to think of a suitable reward for those that complete 3 out of 4 days of completing the tasks on their boards. If anyone has an idea, please, please let me know. It has to be reasonable and doable.
On a funny note, the Almighty Zeus will not go outside unless I pick him up and take hime to an area that I have shoveled snow and he can see grass. This from the desert dog that used to relieve himself on our rocks and not the grass. He is soooo adorable.

Summer here we come
Schedule will be up. This year the theme will be "Take out". It is on the theme of choosing which option you want and designating a week. Say you want a class but the week you want it it is not available. Well, if you are the first to sign up for that session of camp, (during the week you want) the schedule is designated by your choice. I will then change the designation of classes for the week you have chosen. Let's wee how it works.

Angelina and I were tuckered out yesterday. We visited New York City's Fashion District and meandered from store to store. It was fantastic. We went into some very interesting shops. Of course we visited Mood, actually spent two hours there. We found the perfect dress fabric for Angelina's prom dress. It was a 100% silk crepe back satin. We will only shop seriously for the perfect color when she completes her muslin and practice dress. A wonderful source of information was Margaret. Angelina explained what she wanted to accomplish and Margaret then accompanied us to the area of the store where Angelina might want to consider fabrics and helped us with our selection. Then lunch at Chipotle, where the posted calories prevented me from having the guacamole and chips. We visited some fantastic trim shops and our feet finally found us heading to Elegant Fabrics located on 222 West 40th Street. I love the fact that they allow you to take up to 10 fabric swatches for free (they are attached to the end of the bolt), after that it is 25 cents each. Wonderful place to try different types of fabric. It is well labeled and they were very helpful. Our last stop was the Drama Bookshop. I love this place. They also had pattern making books, sewing books and of course costume design for different time periods in addition to an seemingly unlimited supply of plays and reference books. With plenty of chairs to relax and browse, I found this store perfectly charming.

Back from our travels and ready to sew!
Wow! Talk about a busy month. August was great. We finished up our Sewing Camps and Angelina and I hit the road as we did a whirlwind week of college visits. Thankfully, all the colleges were within a 5 1/2 hour radius of home. We did get the opportunity to visit a wonderful quilt store in Vernon, Connecticut, Quilting by the Yard. The staff was absolutely fantastic and helped us soo much. (They also recommended that we try out the Diner on the corner, Reins Deli, fantabulous with Gluten-Free sandwiches, yummmmm)
The following week we set off on our 2 1/2 week adventure to the west. We first went to Colorado Springs, Colorado to visit our son, Felipe. While there we attended the Colorado State Fair and a rodeo in Pueblo, Colorado. Of course I went into the Craft showcase exhibit. The wonderful techniques of the entries were inspiring.
We then headed to the Grand Canyon. Angelina chose a whitewater rafting trip which included Class 5 and 6 rapids.....wow. Uplifting is just too tame of a word.
We were out of touch with the world. We actually stayed in a place where we had no cell coverage nor internet connection. It was soooo different. Then off to Las Vegas.
While visiting with Daniel we had the opportunity to visit another quilt store, Fabric Boutique. They had wonderful fabric and patterns. I also picked up a collection of Las Vegas inspired fabric.
So today I will be returning phone calls and scheduling. Our open house is Saturday from 1-4, please feel free to stop by.
